Certain games won't install on my laptop?
I just bought a lenovo idealpad Y510 and i'm trying to install games like counter strike source and the old halo combat evolved. but when i put it in, my laptop reads the disk and makes a crazy sound in intervals as it reads the disk and the setup process either doesn't start or has a problem. I can install old games, like windows 95 old but the games i've tried that played on xp aren't installing right. any ideas?
Are these DVD games?
CS probably not since it is a little older..
Make sure the disk is clean, try to access the Run.EXE manually by going to
Start > Computer > Open the CD/DVD drive and look for Autorun.exe or Run.exe or anything along those lines, if you are having an issue getting that pulled up sounds like you may be running Windows Vista?
Go to computer >
Start > Computer > Right click on the CD/DVD drive (With game in the drive) And go to properties > compatibilitybility > Check the bcompatibilityability mode drop it to Windows XP or something lower, if this doesn't work try updating your computer software through updates or even driver updates through the manufactures website..
Sometimes CD roms & DVD Roms have Firmware updates / check for those too
