How to enable my Compaq Armada M700 detect my USB portable harddrive?
I have a laptop - Compaq Armada M700 P3 with 512MB RAM, installed with Windows Server 2003. The USB port is presumed to be a low speed hub. I connect my USB 2.0 portable HD (Seagate 160GB). Windows 2003 says i have connected a hi-speed device to a low speed port. But when i go to My Computer, I could not see my HD there. Thelaptop can correctly detect my mouse and my thumb drive (256MB) though.
I don't mind transfering at a lower speed, but i need to be able to transfer data to and from the HD. May i know how do i solve the problem?

My portable harddrive does not come with a power supply. It draws all its power from the usb connector

Does the drive itself does feature an AC-style power connector?
Although no power adaptor is provided in the hard drive package. You need a third-party power supply.
