Problem with laptop ethernet.. not recognized & can't find driver?
I have a laptop that I cannot connect to the internet. It is a HP Pavilion N5430 (very outdated.) First we thought the problem was that Windows XP needed updating. Then we realized that there are no dirvers insalled for the ethernet card. I've gone to HP's website and found this... Windows XP Accton LAN Driver for HP Omnibook XE3-GD/GE and Pavilion N5xxx-GD/GE Series Notebook Computers. When I try to install it on the laptop I get an error that says, "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware."
Is it the wrong driver? Has the ethernet card gone bad? I am out of ideas and I have no idea what card is actually installed!

go to internet, at the libreary and use the cumputer there. get a flash drive, 512mb and plug it in. download driver off internet, plug in adapter, install driver on laptop(transfer files through the flash drive) and then yank out the card(adapter). the new hardware wizard will popup, and then install the card to the laptop, all done!
