How do I get my laptop speakers to mute with headphones plugged in?
Most laptops cut the speakers automatically when headphones are plugged in - not this one. Pressing mute mutes both. Disabling the speakers disables both. Windows Vista. HP Mobile Workstation.
Check the manufacturer's web site, ask them.
Have you tried different headsets? You may have a plug that is not long enough or incorrectly configured for your jack.
The speakers should mute when you plug in headphones. I cannot find a setting in Vista that controls it.
