Can I replace the motherboard in my toshiba laptop?
I have a toshiba satellite and I want to use it for gaming. Can I install a new motherboard with say a 2.0GHz processor? How much would it cost?
1. Search the forums at notebookreview.com and see if anyone has done this for your specific model
2. Search ebay for a newer motherboard that has a better graphics chip, not CPU.
3. You don't need a fatser CPU for gaming, you need a fast dedicated video chip such as a NVIDIA 8800M GTX or 9800M GTX so it will be easier if you find out first what was the fasted video chip ever made for your series of laptop because that is the best you will be able to find on ebay...

You can 100% for sure install a new motherboard so let's get that out of the way.
But.... it's kind of like "if you have to ask about it, you won't end up doing it" because it is not easy and there are all sorts of ways to mess it up...
You might have gotten a bit more help if you had given full specs and full model number - there have been a lot of different Toshiba Satellites made!
