Is my hard drive dead?
ok, i have a hard drive from a dell laptop, its a Fujitsu HD 60 GB, and we have a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter to hook it up to a PC, all is good when we boot from it, but now, when we plug it in to the adapter, it doesn't even power on, and i hooked it up to an external enclosure, and still, no power, the adapter was from tigerdirect, cables-to-go i beleive, and i am really hoping it isn't dead, there is valuable info on that drive, so do we just need to buy a new adapter?? or am i screwed?
Make sure the USB drivers are installed and working for the ports. Check Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers. Remove all in the list and restart the computer. Windows should re-install all the drivers. If not you may need the restore disk or need to get the drivers from the motherboard's manufacturer.
