Can I use SATA hard drive in my notebook if it was originally config w/ ATA hard drive & why?
Trying to upgrade internal hard drive.
No, the interfaces and contorlers are different. Check with your computer manufacture there may be a motherboard up grade that offers a SATA interface vs a IDE ATA interface for the hard drive.
Or as the previous poster said use an external hard drive.
